Clinton did (in the real timeline) make a kind of "ich bin ein Kiev-er" speech in Ukraine not long after their independence and it went over very well and Clinton got a whole bunch of Ukrainian fans. (For more info, check out "Russia, Ukraine, and the Breakup of the Soviet Union" by Roman Szporluk. It's a stellar book and a surprisingly easy read.)

I guess even in this timeline Yana would probably have a soft spot for the American president who was so supportive of Ukraine (at least in the symbolic gesture department).

Ah, Yana, diplomacy is a game of wolves. Nobody is nobody's friend. :(

But the art is awesome as always. :)

Ain't it? At least it's better than war. And let's hear it out there for people who think more like dogs than wolves. >_>

So patriot! It's hard to understand when you came from a culture which doesn't have much respect to its own country, so I always be amazed getting in touch with those concepts :) It's interesting to me.

Not to mention there's a million different kinds of patriotism, some of which are so different it hardly makes sense to use the same word for them.

That's true, the same word "patriotism" has different concepts according to each the nation.
