Did a color version (with a mouse, sorry) of the UK dude:

Anyhow, for those of you playing at home, he's a Lingayat. I guess the closest thing I could compare it to is Hinduism, but it's monotheistic and has no concept of caste.

Speaking of religion, happy late Christmas to those of you who go in for that sort of thing in early January.

(Yana? Giving away food? What is this madness.)

Yes, color stuff!

Seeing what Wikipedia writes about the Lingayats and social work, I guess he is being a good Lingayat, then? It's the first time I hear of this religion, I'll admit.

One of the perks about living close to the Russian border is their late Christmas; a lot of tourists come here to spend their holidays just after our holidays are over. For the skiing resorts, hotels and department stores, that means two Christmases in a row :)

By the way, I had a chance to watch a film called Tangerines. Now, it's not about Ukraine - it's about the 1992 Abkhazian-Georgian war - but it's a must-see for anyone with an interest in post-Soviet conflicts (or for those who just enjoy a good story).

Three cheers for folks that actually observe their religions like that. :P

And ooh, that's cool. I didn't even think about your proximity to vacationing Russians.

That sounds fascinating -- I still want to find more on the Moldovan Civil War (which parts of this are loosely based on) too.

Pay or a sudden feeling of "Man, I've been there!"? (TV announcer voice) You decide!

Looks like Yana is enjoying these few hours in the warmth, knitting and nit thinking about war.
